My first visit to Dragon Pro Wrestling certainly lived up-to the hype. The infamous Dragon Pro Academy has trained and nurtured some of the best talent on the UK independent scene, and continues to do so. Dragon Pro is like MTV Unplugged, all the fancy lighting, sound system and technological gimmicks have been stripped away. What’s left is a raw, edgy product, however once the bell rings the feeling that Dragon Pro is a small promotion fades away. Every match ranged from very good to excellent, to think the majority of the competitors last night are still in the Dragon Pro academy and are still trying to establish themselves is amazing. The wrestling was proficient, every move was made to matter, they took their time and it paid off. I was impressed by all but a select few stood out, Brendan White, Beano, Dean Winter and Matt Horgan all looked ready made for the UK independent scene. Obliviously the likes of Edwin Ricci, Brotherhood and Danny Jones have all been active in the South West for quite some time.

The greatest plaudits must go to Dean Winter and Mike Bird, their match had it all. Mike Bird as always delivered and once more he made a star of an opponent, Dean Winter held his own against the veteran. Their back and forth match was the highlight of the evening, they didn’t hold back and in doing so Mike Bird enhanced his reputation and Winter built one. Overall New Horizons was everything and more, it lived up to the hype and delivered on all fronts.

If you want to see what all the fuss is about get yourself down to Wales and experience Dragon Pro, I guarantee that you will not be disappointed. For further information on Dragon Pro check out their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/DragonProWrestling/
