WWE Extreme Rules is now less than two weeks away and while last week’s Raw saw a fair few matches booked for the event, there’s still plenty more build to get out of the way before the event. A Fatal 5 Way, Tag Team Championship, and a kendo stick on a pole match would you believe will take place at Extreme Rules, but what can we expect from the competitors of some of those matches tonight on Raw.
First up the Fatal 5 Way that will decide the number one contender to Brock Lesnar’s Universal Championship is absolutely packed with talent. Last week a fair bit of that talent clashed and it was Bray Wyatt who stood tall as the curtain fell on Raw. In weeks past Samoa Joe has focused all of his attention on trying to take out Seth Rollins by now The Destroyer may have his sights set on The Eater of Worlds also. Throw Roman Reigns and Finn Balor into that already volatile mix and you’re almost guaranteed for some fireworks tonight on Raw.
Perhaps the two biggest active names currently on Raw that don’t have places booked in that five way are Dean Ambrose and The Miz. That’s because the familiar foes are engaged in an ongoing battle over the Intercontinental Championship. Last week Ambrose survived Miz and kept his belt by delivering a low blow to The A Lister. Hardly the noble act of a champion so a rematch has been booked for Extreme Rules where Dean will lose his belt if he gets disqualified. I’d bet an awful lot of money on that not being the next time the pair clash however and Miz will probably want retribution as soon as tonight, and I’m sure the champion will oblige.
Looks like Goldust is finally sick and tired of being treated like a joke in WWE. The veteran has spent his time recently tagging with R-Truth and the pair have been unsuccessful, to say the least. So last week Goldie took action, turning on his now former partner and friend. There will have to be repercussions as Truth has now had a full week to stew over what Goldust did to him.
Alexa Bliss continues to get and maintain the upper hand over her upcoming opponent, Bayley. The Goddess of WWE beat the former Raw Women’s Champion with a kendo stick last week, an action that led to the aforementioned weapon on a pole match for the championship at Extreme Rules. You would have to think that sooner or later Bayley is going to need to get her own licks in on Bliss in order to build some momentum of her own before Extreme Rules, otherwise that match will be pretty one sided.
