NEWS TOPICS

  • The two major topics coming out of last night’s WWE RAW on social media this morning are the main roster debut of Samoa Joe and Brock Lesnar challenging Goldberg to a match at WrestleMaina. Click here to read our RAW recap.
  • After RAW went off the air last night, Brock Lesnar came out and issued and open challenge. Big Show made his way to the ring, attempted a chock slam, but Lesnar counters and gave and F5 to Show. Lesnar’s music hit and that was it. Honestly not a bad deal for a “main event”.
  • Chris Jericho was reported to have suffered a minor ankle injury during the Royal Rumble match Sunday night, but seems to be okay overall after having a 14 minute match with Sami Zayn on last night’s RAW.
  • Samoa Joe’s appearance last night on RAW all but kills the rumor of him being John Cena’s opponent at WrestleMania 33. The rumor mill is now leaning more towards the likes of Dolph Ziggler or Baron Corbin.
  • During a recent episode of the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast, Shawn Michaels discussed who gave him the idea to use the Superkick as a finisher:
    • “When I first went single’s I was trying to use what I later heard was called a teardrop suplex. I just used the double-underhook and crotched a guy and suplex him. So I was using that one and Pat Patterson came to me one day. He said, ‘I like it, but that kick, the kick is actually more impactful than the suplex. What do you think about using that one?’ And I was still new as a single’s [competitor]. I said, ‘sure! Heck, I’m just trying anything.’ And so we did that, and then, it just sort of kept going. And then, whatever, you start adding some more flair to it. And all of a sudden, eventually, one day, it begins to take on this life of its own.”
